Painting (2022-23)
The human body serves as a powerful medium for expressing self-identity—through skin color, shape, and form. I use the human figure to explore the intricate relationship between society and individuality, drawing inspiration from belief, history, and religion to reflect the diverse experiences that shape our identities.
The faceless human figures I depict symbolize the connection between physical form and societal perception, particularly through representations of female figures. These figures not only highlight gender roles but also examine how various physical characteristics convey narratives of diversity within society. Through my lens, I seek to reveal how the human form—stripped of specific identity markers—can still powerfully communicate stories of diversity, inclusion, and the ongoing negotiation of identity.
